The Firehouse Center for the Arts is delighted to announce the introduction of the Firehouse Summer Education Program at Smolak Farms in North Andover, Massachusetts. The Firehouse is a professional, fun environment where kids can explore and foster a love for the performing arts. The First Act program is dedicated to creating a safe, educational, and supportive environment where everyone can authentically be themselves.

In each session, the children will be exposed to improvisation, games, and a professional rehearsal process. They will be educated in music, acting, and dance while working towards two final performances in the final weekend of the program.

Firehouse Education Program is also happy to announce a daily lunch program. In partnership with Smolak Farms, lunch may be provided daily for families who would like to participate. Please see below for pricing per session.

Disney’s Frozen JR.

Session 1: Ages 8-13
Monday, July 5th – Friday, July 22nd from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Performances Saturday, July 23rd and Sunday, July 24th at 11:00 a.m.

The enchanting modern classic from Disney is ready for your Broadway Junior stars! Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach JR.

Session 2: Ages 8-13
Monday, July 25th – Friday, August 5th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Performances Saturday, August 6th and Sunday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m.

Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this “masterpeach” of a tale. Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

Avenue Q – School Edition

Session 3: Ages 13-17, Teen Intensive
Monday, August 8th – Friday, August 12th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Performances Saturday, August 13th and Sunday, August 14th at 11:00 a.m.

 

Winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q School Edition is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart.

The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere.

Scholarship Opportunities:

Funded in part by the Edward S. and Winifred G. Moseley Foundation, we are pleased to offer limited scholarship opportunities. Families may apply for partial or full scholarships based on their financial need. If selected, families will be given a supplemental scholarship application to fill out and return to the Firehouse Center for the Arts. All scholarship monies will be credited to your account, if awarded.
