This is a non-Equity production. Housing and travel stipend not available. Actors of color are strongly encouraged to audition, and all roles are open to actors of all ethnic, racial, and gender identities unless otherwise specified. Auditions shall be conducted in a manner that promotes fair consideration to persons of all races, ethnicities, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, ages, and ability statuses. Our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.

Dewey Finn (onstage guitar required) Rock Tenor Bs-E5 a wannabe rockstar with big dreams.
Rosalie Mullins Soprano A3-D6 Proper and a bit uptight. Rosalie is the headmistress of Horace Green School. Has a secret love of rock music, and yearns to recapture the carefree spirit of her youth. (Rosalie sings Queen of the Night during the show)
Ned Schneebly Baritone C3-F#4 Ned is an old friend of Dewey’s, and the two currently share a flat with Ned’s girlfriend Patti. He used to play in Dewey’s band, but is now a substitute teacher.
Patty Di Marco Mezzo-Soprano Belt B3-E5 Ned's domineering girlfriend who lives with Ned & Dewey
Ensemble - Various teachers, parents, as well as the band “No Vacancy” (vocal feature - does not have to play instruments but should be familiar enough with either guitar, bass, or drums to look somewhat believable)

Summer Hathaway A3-D5 Confident and outspoken, Summer is the ideal manager for the band
Zack Mooneyham (onstage guitar required - includes rock guitar solos) A3-D5 Zack is the band’s lead guitarist and also a talented songwriter

Tomika (will hold lead vocal moments - stage presence a must) A3-G5 New girl Tomika is struggling to fit in at Horace Green. She conquers her shyness to reveal her phenomenal singing ability
Lawrence (onstage piano required - some minor classical before chords for rock songs) A3-D#5 Awkward and lacking in confidence, Lawrence is hesitant to attempt something “cool” like joining a band
Katie (Onstage bass guitar required - some minor runs) A3-D#5 Quiet and serious, Katie already played the cello but switched to bass at Dewey’s suggestion
Freddie Hamilton (onstage drums require - includes some drum solos) A3-D5 Freddie loves a bit of rowdiness and noise, making him a great drummer.
Marcy A3-G5 Quiet girl with angelic voice, backup singer and dancer in the band
Shonelle A3-G5 Quiet girl with angelic voice, backup singer and dancer in the band
Mason A3-D5 Mason is a total whiz with technology and creates special effects and fantastic
lighting designs for the bands performances
Billy A3-D5 Flamboyant and artistic, Billy has a passionate interest in fashion
James A3-D5 James is tough and reliable, making him a good security guard for the band
Sophie A3-D5 backup dancers during performances

Production Schedule:


Range of Rehearsals/hours: 3-4 per week, weekdays 6pm-10pm or weekends in 6 hour blocks typically beginning at 10a or 12p.
Tech: Sunday, August 16 (10p-6p), August 17-19 (6p-10:30p), Invited Dress August 20 (6-10:30p)
Rehearsal Schedule: Subject to change based on conflicts, all efforts made to utilize and respect actors time wherever possible. Range of Rehearsals/hours: 3-4 per week, weekdays 6pm-10pm or weekends in 6 hour blocks typically beginning at 10a or 12p.
