An admirer of the dedicated song craft of writers like John Prine\, Gillian Welch\, and Townes Van Zandt — and of the stirring vocals of artists like Bonnie Raitt and Nina Simone — Maya de Vitry’s music invites listeners into a space of openness and connection. After a formative chapter with the roots-Americana trio The Stray Birds\, she launched her solo career with the 2019 album Adaptations\, earning praise from Rolling Stone Country\, NPR Music\, and No Depression. Since then\, she has built a devoted following\, drawn to both her recordings and her powerful live performances. Known for her magnetic voice and hard-won sense of purpose\, Maya has toured in North America and Europe\, supporting artists like The Wood Brothers\, Aoife O’Donovan\, John Craigie\, and Mighty Poplar. These questions\, and Erelli’s hunt for creative agency\, are at the heart of his new album Lay Your Darkness Down (due Feb 3 on Soundly Music).  \nMark Erelli reminds us to push forward through the fog; because we can’t see a path ahead\, doesn’t mean we won’t get to the destination we’re in search of. His dad started him on the mandolin at age seven and required him to practice ten minutes a day. Now in 2023\, the mandolinist’s main focus is The Jacob Jolliff Band\, which is regarded as  one of the most cutting-edge progressive bluegrass groups on the scene today. This ensemble is a group of virtuosic pickers that play Jacob’s original instrumentals\, as well as showcase his singing. Restless and inventive\, his seventeen records span rock and roll\, folk\, Jazz\, spoken word\, and Americana. Peter Mulvey has been a songwriter\, road-dog\, raconteur and almost-poet since before he can remember. Raised working-class Catholic on the Northwest side of Milwaukee\, he took a semester in Ireland\, and immediately began cutting classes to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin and hitchhike through the country\, finding whatever gigs he could. Back stateside\, he spent a couple years gigging in the Midwest before lighting out for Boston\, where he returned to busking (this time in the subway) and coffeehouses. Small shows led to larger shows\, which eventually led to regional and then national and international touring. The wheels have not stopped since. \nNineteen records\, an illustrated book\, thousands of live performances\, a TEDx talk\, a decades-long association with the National Youth Science Camp\, opening for luminaries such as Ani DiFranco\, Emmylou Harris\, and Chuck Prophet\, appearances on NPR\, an annual autumn tour by bicycle\, emceeing festivals\, hosting his own boutique festival (the Lamplighter Sessions\, in Boston and Wisconsin)… Mulvey never stops. He has built his life’s work on collaboration and an instinct for the eclectic and the vital. He folds everything he encounters into his work: poetry\, social justice\, scientific literacy\, & a deeply abiding humanism are all on plain display in his art. \n \n

From Grammy Award-winning performances to platinum-selling records\, Suzy has proudly called her own shots for four decades\, earning her stripes as a singer-songwriter\, producer\, and road warrior along the way.  \nRecorded at Suzy’s home\, her newest\, self-written album Prayin’ for Sunshine offers a mix of southern storytelling\, gorgeous vocals\, and organic instrumentation that showcases her country and Americana roots. It’s an eclectic and emotional project\, with Suzy’s sharp songwriting balanced by spontaneous performances from the band.
