DESCRIPTION:$35/Member\n$40/Non-Member \nPurchase Tickets\n\nNominated for Five 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical \nBook by Chris D’Arienzo\nArrangements and Orchestrations by Ethan Popp \nIt’s the tail end of the big\, bad 1980s in Hollywood\, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net\, Lycra\, lace\, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues\, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness\, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri\, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew\, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Our group is dedicated to the music of the American rock band “Chicago”. There is no other American Rock n Roll band with horns that has influenced more musicians\, is loved by millions of people worldwide and has become such a deep part of Americana as the band Chicago. Since 1967\, 46 years of sold out concerts\, millions of record sales and legions of cheering fans worldwide Chicago is still going strong in 2019. The members of Chicago Total Access have attempted to recreate a slice of the timeless musical catalog of Chicago as well as stay true to the spirit of the original recordings. We hope you enjoy our efforts! The liner notes of their first recording titled “The Chicago Transit Authority” still inspire us and I hope you as well. \n“The printed word can never aspire to document a truly musical experience\, so if you must call them something\, speak of the city where all save one were born; where all of them were schooled and bred\, and where all of this incredible music went down barely noticed; call them CHICAGO.” \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\n

SUMMARY:The Firehouse Celebrates
DESCRIPTION:In 2023\, the Firehouse Center for the Arts celebrates 200 years since our Marketplace opened. In those 200 years\, the building has transformed from a single level marketplace to adding the second story\, first as a chair factory and then followed by a Lyceum where the likes of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Daniel Webster enlightened mid-19th century Newburyport residents. In 1864\, the Marketplace was transformed into the Central Firehouse of Newburyport where it remained until 1979 when a new Fire Station was built. For nearly a decade\, the former Firehouse sat unused until the Society for the Development of Arts and Humanities of Greater Newburyport proposed transforming the building into cultural center for the City. Construction began in 1987 and in 1991\, the Firehouse Center for the Arts opened its doors. \nThis year\, we celebrate our past while looking forward at our future. Our goal is to raise $200\,000 to commemorate our 200th Anniversary. Join the celebration! \nSILENT AUCTION LIVE NOW\n\nHOSTED BY BILLY COSTA\nWhat: Our Annual Gala\nWhere: Black Swan Country Club\, Georgetown\, MA\nWhen: Friday\, September 8 at 6:00pm \n \nM.K. SUMMARY:Taylor Ashton
DESCRIPTION:$18/Member\n$20/Non-Members \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\nRecorded over the course of a 4\,000-mile cross-country roadtrip\, Taylor Ashton’s gorgeous new album\, Stranger To The Feeling\, is a sonic odyssey through the heart of America\, one that works its way chronologically and geographically from coast to coast as it meditates on the meaning of closeness and connection. The performances are warm and inviting\, anchored by Ashton’s deft guitar and banjo work and rich\, easygoing melodicism\, and the recordings—helmed by producer Jacob Blumberg and captured with a broad range of collaborators including Courtney Hartman\, Big Thief’s Buck Meek\, Lake Street Dive’s Rachael Price\, Vulfpeck’s Theo Katzman\, Late Show bandleader Louis Cato\, and Mipso’s Jacob Sharp—are alternately sparse and lush\, with arrangements often serving as aural reflections of their physical environments. From a blanket in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to a spiritual vortex in Sedona\, AZ\, the settings are inextricable from the songs\, and the result is a moving collection that manages to evoke both the gentle virtuosity of Nick Drake and the buoyant wit of Paul Simon. \nBorn and raised in Canada\, Ashton got his start fronting the beloved Vancouver five-piece Fish & Bird. After moving to NYC\, he teamed up with Courtney Hartman for 2018’s Been On Your Side\, which Rolling Stone proclaimed “packs a punch\,” and two years later released his solo debut\, The Romantic\, earning widespread praise alongside dates with the likes of Sarah Jarosz\, Madison Cunningham\, The Wood Brothers\, and more. \nPURCHASE TICKETS

SUMMARY:Peter Yarrow
DESCRIPTION:$35/Members\n$40/Non-Members \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\nPeter’s talents as a creative artist—both with Peter\, Paul & Mary and as a solo performer—are frequently directed at using music to convey a message of humanity and caring. His gift for songwriting has produced some of the most moving songs Peter\, Paul & Mary have recorded\, including “Puff\, the Magic Dragon\,” “Day is Done\,” “Light One Candle\,” and “The Great Mandala.” As a member of the renowned musical trio\, he has earned many gold and platinum albums\, has been awarded numerous Grammys\, and nominated for several more. More important to Peter\, however\, is the acknowledgment of the central role that he and his partners have played in bringing the folk renaissance of the 1960s to the hearts and homes of the American public. \nPeter Yarrow’s life and work\, culminating in the founding and leadership of Operation Respect\, embraces the premise that if each person finds a way to articulate his or her own voice and joins with others\, together they can become a powerful force for the transformation of society. \nPeter is not about to give up the demanding path he’s chosen. “We’ve lived through a time in which people have felt they could forge their own future and make a better world\,” he said. “We may not have achieved our dreams in the time frame that we once believed was possible\, but the magnitude of what is yet to be achieved only confirms the importance of our commitment. Knowing this\,\nwe can’t stop now.” \nPURCHASE TICKETS

SUMMARY:Tom Chapin
DESCRIPTION:$27/Members\n$30/Non-Members \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\nIn a career that spans six decades\, 26 albums and three GRAMMY awards\, Hudson Valley Troubadour Tom Chapin has covered an incredible amount of creative ground. In addition to his work as a recording artist and concert performer\, Chapin has acted on Broadway\, as well as working extensively in television\, radio and film. He continues to engage the hearts\, minds and imaginations of young listeners with witty\, life-affirming original songs delivered in a sophisticated array of musical styles. In either format\, Chapin’s infectious songs\, sterling musicianship and personal warmth consistently shine through\, whether he’s performing on record or in a concert hall\, an outdoor festival\, a school\, in front of a symphony orchestra or in an intimate coffeehouse. The New York Times called Chapin “one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music\,” while Billboard called him “the best family artist around” and described him as “totally captivating.” \nPURCHASE TICKETS

SUMMARY:Randy Edelman
DESCRIPTION:$18/Members\n$20/Non-Members \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\n\nRandy’s music is not of an ordinary world\, but rather from an other dimension …one that has no time for things that have no soul. Cascading wildly through infinity his music brings joy\, an ephemeral spark\, a firefly’s ethereal glow\, the feeling of running against the wind\, a quicksand of shadows and an echo of memories\, the darkness of bitter coffee\, the light of a madness that shines. His symphonies embody all of those emotions and more…sensitivity is his strength\, romance his poetry…music his passion and predestination…. \n\nIt’s never safe to think we are done in life. When we imagine we have finished our story destiny steps on turning the page and showing us another chapter. Randy’s career dances with change. From conducting orchestras in the pits of Broadway to Clive Davis and Columbia Records\, to a pop career in the UK on Elton John’s Rocket record label\, Randy wrote songs covered by icons including Patti LaBelle\, Olivia\, Newton-John\, The Carpenters\, Nelly\, Willy Nelson\, Blood\, Sweat and Tears\, Dionne Warwick\, and even Bing Crosby. He opened arena and stadium concerts for The Carpenters\, and even the legendary Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention…. \nSuddenly serendipity stepped onto the threshold of success and Randy went on to become one of the leading soundtrack architects for over 100 motion pictures and television themes. Some of those include “My Cousin Vinny”\, “Ghostbusters ll”\, “The Bruce Lee Story”\, “Dragonheart”\, “While You Were Sleeping”\, “Kindergarten Cop”\, “Twins”\, the theme for the hit series “MacGyver”\, the theme for the Olympics\, and the monumental film  “Last of the Mohicans” which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Soggy Po Boys
DESCRIPTION:$15/Non-Members\n$12/Members \nPurchase Tickets\n\nThe Soggy Po Boys\, native to New England\, have quickly become an institution. They are spreading the good news of New Orleans music across the northeast and beyond\, playing at concert halls and street corners; music festivals and burlesque festivals; bars and libraries; wherever the party requires. Part of the beauty of New Orleans music is that it’s celebrated and appreciated wherever it goes\, from the street to the theater. \nThe Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece. Exploring the vast musical traditions of New Orleans and expanding their repertoire to look beyond NOLA jazz\, the band includes traditional Caribbean tunes (it’s been said that New Orleans is the northernmost city in the Caribbean)\, as well as Meters funk\, soul\, and brass band / street beat music. There are a myriad of traditions that flow into New Orleans culture just as there are tributaries that feed the Mississippi\, and the Po Boys are eager to explore what makes the music of New Orleans so damn special. You’ll hear the heavy influence of the New Orleans sound across the band and in the stories told by their original tunes. Despite the scope of its sound\, the outfit is only seven people\, and thrives on the interplay and group dynamics that bring this music to life. \nThe Soggy Po Boys are: \nStu Dias- Vocals / Guitar\nEric Klaxton- Clarinet/Sop. Sax\nNick Mainella- Tenor Sax\nJosh Gagnon – Trombone\nMike Effenberger- Piano\nScott Kiefner- Upright Bass\nBrian Waterhouse – Drums/Percussion \nPurchase Tickets\n\n
