SUMMARY:Rock of Ages
DESCRIPTION:$35/Member\n$40/Non-Member \nPurchase Tickets\n\nNominated for Five 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical \nBook by Chris D’Arienzo\nArrangements and Orchestrations by Ethan Popp \nIt’s the tail end of the big\, bad 1980s in Hollywood\, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net\, Lycra\, lace\, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues\, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness\, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri\, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew\, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx\, Journey\, Bon Jovi\, Whitesnake and more hold the answer. \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nClick Here to check out our Virtual Playbill \nPurchase Tickets

SUMMARY:The Commonheart
DESCRIPTION:$15/Members\n$18/Non-Members \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\n“This band is therapy for me to bring myself back to being a better person\, and I hope people come along with me\,” says powerhouse singer Clinton Clegg of The Commonheart. \nClinton didn’t grow up in a Baptist church\, and his soul machine of a band isn’t pushing religion. Live and in the studio\, the Pittsburgh-based collective is offering feel-good positivity\, Golden Rule messaging\, and sweat-soaked performances that nimbly ease through blues\, vintage soul\, and rock. \nThe nonet is bonded by familial-like ties and a desire to foster spiritual uplift. Among its ranks are female backup singers\, drums\, bass\, guitar\, a horn section\, and keyboards. Out front is Clinton\, a lightning bolt charismatic front man with dynamically expressive pipes that effortlessly traverse bluesy pleading\, and honeyed balladeering. \nThe Commonheart’s sophomore album\, ‘Pressure’ (Jullian Records)\, is both rugged and refined. The 10-song album showcases raw-nerve soul musicianship pristinely recorded. It’s an album by a band on a mission. “We are willing to take risks and to go at any lengths for this band\,” Clinton says affirmatively. “We are ready to spread positivity and make a stretch of this thing.” \nPURCHASE TICKETS

SUMMARY:An Evening with Charles "The Lord" Shaughnessy
DESCRIPTION:$25/Minimum Donation\nALL LEVELS OF SUPPORT ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED \nRESERVE YOUR SPOT\n\nEnjoy a fun evening with Charles who will be sharing stories of his life and career and how he truly became a “lord” all while helping to support 2 great non-profits & “partners in the port” – Turning Point\, Inc. and the Firehouse Center for the Arts. \nCharles was born to a showbiz family in London and educated at Eton and Cambridge University\, where he tried to “do something sensible” by getting a degree in Law. \nIt didn’t work. \nPerforming in the celebrated Footlights Revue was a lot more fun than Torts and Land Law so he decided to join the family business after all. After a few years of gainful employment in England\, Charles pursued a gorgeous American actress to Los Angeles\, married her and raised two equally gorgeous daughters\, who are the light of his life. He made his professional U.S. debut on this very stage in 1984 in Howard Brenton’s “The Genius”. He went on to a successful and multi-faceted career on stage and screen that took him from exotic locations like Hawaii and Paris to stages on Broadway and The North Shore Music Theatre. He considers himself extremely lucky to have made a living in this crazy business and has enjoyed every second. You might recognize him from his roles on some beloved TV shows like The Nanny and Mad Men\, but then again….you might not . \nRESERVE YOUR SPOT\nRESERVE YOUR SPOT

SUMMARY:The Firehouse Celebrates
DESCRIPTION:In 2023\, the Firehouse Center for the Arts celebrates 200 years since our Marketplace opened. In those 200 years\, the building has transformed from a single level marketplace to adding the second story\, first as a chair factory and then followed by a Lyceum where the likes of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Daniel Webster enlightened mid-19th century Newburyport residents. In 1864\, the Marketplace was transformed into the Central Firehouse of Newburyport where it remained until 1979 when a new Fire Station was built. For nearly a decade\, the former Firehouse sat unused until the Society for the Development of Arts and Humanities of Greater Newburyport proposed transforming the building into cultural center for the City. Construction began in 1987 and in 1991\, the Firehouse Center for the Arts opened its doors. \nThis year\, we celebrate our past while looking forward at our future. Our goal is to raise $200\,000 to commemorate our 200th Anniversary. Join the celebration! \nSILENT AUCTION LIVE NOW\n\nHOSTED BY BILLY COSTA\nWhat: Our Annual Gala\nWhere: Black Swan Country Club\, Georgetown\, MA\nWhen: Friday\, September 8 at 6:00pm \n \nM.K. SUMMARY:Taylor Ashton
DESCRIPTION:$18/Member\n$20/Non-Members \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\nRecorded over the course of a 4\,000-mile cross-country roadtrip\, Taylor Ashton’s gorgeous new album\, Stranger To The Feeling\, is a sonic odyssey through the heart of America\, one that works its way chronologically and geographically from coast to coast as it meditates on the meaning of closeness and connection. The performances are warm and inviting\, anchored by Ashton’s deft guitar and banjo work and rich\, easygoing melodicism\, and the recordings—helmed by producer Jacob Blumberg and captured with a broad range of collaborators including Courtney Hartman\, Big Thief’s Buck Meek\, Lake Street Dive’s Rachael Price\, Vulfpeck’s Theo Katzman\, Late Show bandleader Louis Cato\, and Mipso’s Jacob Sharp—are alternately sparse and lush\, with arrangements often serving as aural reflections of their physical environments. From a blanket in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to a spiritual vortex in Sedona\, AZ\, the settings are inextricable from the songs\, and the result is a moving collection that manages to evoke both the gentle virtuosity of Nick Drake and the buoyant wit of Paul Simon. \nBorn and raised in Canada\, Ashton got his start fronting the beloved Vancouver five-piece Fish & Bird. After moving to NYC\, he teamed up with Courtney Hartman for 2018’s Been On Your Side\, which Rolling Stone proclaimed “packs a punch\,” and two years later released his solo debut\, The Romantic\, earning widespread praise alongside dates with the likes of Sarah Jarosz\, Madison Cunningham\, The Wood Brothers\, and more. \nPURCHASE TICKETS

SUMMARY:Peter Yarrow
DESCRIPTION:$35/Members\n$40/Non-Members \nPURCHASE TICKETS\n\nPeter’s talents as a creative artist—both with Peter\, Paul & Mary and as a solo performer—are frequently directed at using music to convey a message of humanity and caring. His gift for songwriting has produced some of the most moving songs Peter\, Paul & Mary have recorded\, including “Puff\, the Magic Dragon\,” “Day is Done\,” “Light One Candle\,” and “The Great Mandala.” As a member of the renowned musical trio\, he has earned many gold and platinum albums\, has been awarded numerous Grammys\, and nominated for several more. More important to Peter\, however\, is the acknowledgment of the central role that he and his partners have played in bringing the folk renaissance of the 1960s to the hearts and homes of the American public. \nPeter Yarrow’s life and work\, culminating in the founding and leadership of Operation Respect\, embraces the premise that if each person finds a way to articulate his or her own voice and joins with others\, together they can become a powerful force for the transformation of society. \nPeter is not about to give up the demanding path he’s chosen. “We’ve lived through a time in which people have felt they could forge their own future and make a better world\,” he said. “We may not have achieved our dreams in the time frame that we once believed was possible\, but the magnitude of what is yet to be achieved only confirms the importance of our commitment. Knowing this\,\nwe can’t stop now.” \nPURCHASE TICKETS

SUMMARY:Annisquam
DESCRIPTION:$40 All Tickets \nPurchase Tickets\n\n*A LOCAL COMMUNITY PRODUCTION* \n\nSomething strange is going on in the tiny seaside community of Annisquam. Dr. Wendell Petit\, a well respected Psychologist\, has not been showing up for work. He has been drinking way too much and his daughter has noticed some very erratic behaviors coming from the man she once idolized. Rumor has it that the good Doctor might be romantically involved with a woman less than half his age\, and the neighbors are starting to talk. \nThat is the premise of Lawrence Hennessy’s darkly disturbing\, sometimes comic\, always tragic play\, Annisquam. Directed by Tim Diering\, Annisquam stars Jim Manclark as the troubled Dr. Petit\, with Katie Makem Boucher as his daughter\, Emma\, and Emily Colwell as his former patient\, Allison. The play includes adult themes\, and may not be suitable for children under the age of 16. Tickets: $40.00; Seniors and Students: $35.00. \n\nPurchase Tickets
