SUMMARY:[title of show]
DESCRIPTION:Purchase Tickets\n\n\n[title of show]\nMusic & Lyrics by Jeff Bowen | Book by Hunter Bell\nJeff and Hunter\, two struggling writers\, hear about a new musical theatre festival. However\, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. With nothing to lose\, the pair decides to try to create something new with the help of their friends Susan\, Heidi and Larry on the eighty-eights. With the cast in place\, Jeff and Hunter begin a conversation about what to write about. Eventually\, Jeff suggests they write about what to write about. They make a pact to write up until the festival’s deadline and dream about the show changing their lives. [title of show]—taken from the space on the festival’s application form which asks for the [title of show]—follows Hunter and Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression. In the span of 90 minutes they write and perform their show at the festival and learn lessons about themselves as people\, friends and artists. [title of show] is\, above all\, a love letter to the musical theatre—a uniquely American art form—and to the joy of collaboration. The musical received a Tony Award® nomination for Best Book of a Musical in 2009.\n\n*Contains adult language.\n\nCAST:\n\n\nJeff………James White \nHunter…..David Draper \nSusan……Rachel Noland \nHeidi…….Carli Hamilton \nLarry….Justin Knowlton \n\n\n\nCREATIVE TEAM:\nDirector- Joe Juknievich\nMusic Director- Justin Knowlton\nChoreography- Kayleigh Kane\nCostume Design- Amanda Olsen\nLighting Design- Brett Reis\nSound Engineer- Jacob Peavey\nSet & Props Designer- Dan Mellitz\n\nPurchase Tickets

SUMMARY:Good & Kissed
DESCRIPTION:Purchase Tickets\n\n\nGood & Kissed\, written and performed by Miranda Jonte\, is a one-woman-performance that tells the story of a woman who discovers her longtime boyfriend’s double life\, and heads to an island off South Carolina with her family to heal\, only to encounter a gorgeous paddle board instructor who reminds her that she is still very much alive.\n\n“From the moment she steps on the stage\, Jonte lives up to her self-titled billing as “teller of stories” — she is an accomplished story-teller who personally connected with each audience member\, inviting us into her world and her very personal experience. Despite her brutal honesty and raw emotion\, Jonte expertly walked the line of keeping her story personal without making us feel like intruders. She commanded her emotions flawlessly\, making for a very compelling narrative.”\n-Julie Janson\, DC Metro\n\n\nTickets $15

SUMMARY:ShakesBEERience NBPT: Hamlet
DESCRIPTION:Regrettably\, ShakesBEERience NBPT: Hamlet has been postponed to support efforts to reduce the Coronavirus spread. We hope to hold this event in the coming weeks pending the status of COVID-19 and the best interests of the public health. As soon as we have more information\, we’ll post it here and on our website! \n——- \nGet Your Free Ticket\n\nFor one night only\, Firehouse Center for the Arts is partnering with Seven Stages Shakespeare Company (7SSC) to bring their ultra-popular ShakesBEERience series to Newburyport! This FREE FOR ALL\, Or Pay What You Will event will offer audience members the opportunity to experience Shakespeare’s Hamlet at Sea Level Oyster Bar on Monday\, March 16 at 6:30PM. ShakesBEERience is 7SSC’s play reading program\, now in its 8th Season. Using the vernacular of the bar\, with script in one hand and libation in the other\, actors navigate their way through Shakespeare’s plays while audiences are free to order dinner or drinks as the play happens around them. The goal is to unpack the language in a fun\, unique and accessible way in an easy-going\, and entertaining environment. \n  \nThis event is timed during the run of the full production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at the Firehouse. Since the characters in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead  are all from Shakespeare’s Hamlet\, this ShakesBEERience event will offer audiences the real treat of seeing the same cast in both the full production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at the Firehouse\, and the ShakesBEERience Hamlet event at Sea Level Oyster Bar. \n  \nThis event is FREE FOR ALL\, Or Pay What You Will (except\, of course for the delish food & drinks from Sea Level Oyster Bar!) Whether you come for the whole reading\, or can just stay for one scene- the ShakesBEERience you have is up to you! \n  \nReserve your free ticket to attend\, and we hope to see you on March 16th! \n  \nGet Your Free Ticket\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Purchase Tickets\n\nStory by The Brothers Grimm\, Adapted by Jack Neary \nDirected by Jack Neary\, Assistant Director Deirdre Budzyna \nThursday\, April 9\, 7pm \nSaturday\, April 11\, 11am \nRUMPELSTILTSKIN\, one of the greatest of all the Brothers Grimm fairy tales\, comes to life in this brand new adaptation written by Jack Neary exclusively for the talented young actors in the Acting Out Productions company. In the classic story\, the King has learned that the Miller\, one of his subjects\, has not paid his taxes. The Miller\, frightened beyond measure when challenged to pay or else\, promises the King that his sister Eliza can spin straw into gold. When the Miller thoughtlessly leaves Eliza at the palace to accomplish the impossible\, she encounters a mysterious little man who spins the straw into gold for her—at a price. The little man wants Eliza to give him her first-born child! With nowhere else to turn for help\, she agrees. Time passes. The little man comes back to claim his prize\, and Eliza must find a way to thwart him and keep her beautiful baby boy. It’s an exciting story with a surprise ending\, and\, rest assured\, there will be plenty of laughs along the way\, believe it or not.
