It’s how our ancestors made sense of both their world and\, subsequently\, help us to make sense of ours. It’s how knowledge and culture are passed down. It’s how we come to know ourselves and each other. \n2021 is the eighth year of our successful story slam program\, thanks to all our amazing storytellers and the many audiences who have given their support and encouragement to all. \nDecember’s Super Story Slam is our annual finale in which we invite all of our 2021 Full Moon Story Slam winners to tell us one more tale – this time a longer story focused around the theme – Grace. This year we will welcome local storytellers and storytellers from across the nation in a hybrid presentation including live and online presenters. \nThe three criteria for the judges:\n1.) The story has an arc: a beginning\, a point of change\, and a resolution.\n2.) Presentation of the story.\n3.) Comedic in tone\, dramatic in action – the play tells the story of the Plantagenet family\, who are locked in a free-for-all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. The queen\, and wealthiest woman in the world\, Eleanor of Aquitaine\, has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband\, King Henry II. Let out only for holidays\, the play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over both a kingdom and King Henry’s paramour during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says\, “Every family has its ups and downs\,” and this royal family is no exception. \nOur Second Act Readers Theater takes the stage to offer this full-length play. Multiple actors will play the same role and there will be light blocking to help tell the story. DESCRIPTION:Free to the public \nReserve Tickets\n\nBRUSH|REED is a collaboration between visual artist\, Linnea Maas\, and musician\, Dr. Jennifer Bill\, to explore the parallels of painting and sound through live performance. BRUSH|REED engages an audience through color\, pitch\, representational lines\, rhythm\, intensity and expression: an aural-visual experience. Jennifer transforms the printed notes of her musical score into lush soundscapes\, while Linnea further interprets the music into visual color and form on her fresh canvas. The live art that blooms at every BRUSH|REED performance captivates and moves audiences. The paintings that emerge establish a visual memory of the sights\, sounds\, and emotions of each intimate affair\, impressing upon each audience member a feeling of symbiosis between the two disciplines presented to them. \nReserve Tickets
