DESCRIPTION:The Firehouse Center for the Arts presents… \nCimarron 615\n  \n$55 / All Tickets \nPurchase Tickets\n\n  \nThe quartet — just releasing its second\, self-titled album — is a hall of fame-caliber assemblage\, with credits that look like a who’s-who of Americana\, country and rock history. “We’ve all been around a long time and done a lot of work — and a lot of it together\,” notes drummer Rick Lonow. “There’s history here.” \nWhere the four musicians intersect is via the famed country-rock band Poco. Lonow and Jack Sundrud were its longtime rhythm section until the band ceased when co-founder Rusty Young died in 2021. Michael Webb played in the band for eight years\, while Ronnie Guilbeau co-wrote Poco’s 1989 Top 20 single “Call It Love” with Lonow. Webb and Sundrud co-produced Poco’s All Fired Up album in 2013\, and Lonow\, Webb and Sundrud played on Young’s 2017 solo album\, Waitin’ For the Sun. \nThen there are the individual credits\, which include many path-crossings with each other over the years. Lonow’s discography includes albums for Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash\, Loretta Lynn\, Nanci Griffith\, “Cowboy” Jack Clement\, Ryan Bingham and many more\, has toured with the Bellamy Brothers\, and was part of the all-star Burrito Deluxe. Webb played on iconic albums by Chris Stapleton\, John Prine\, Mark Germino and others\, as well as hitting the road with John Fogerty and Hank Williams\, Jr.; he was also part of the all-star Brooklyn Cowboys. Sundrud played with Dickie Betts\, Vince Gill\, and Nicolette Larson\, and formed the group Great Plains. And Guilbeau — who\, like Sundrud\, worked in the California country-rock scene before moving to Nashville — was part of the bands Palomino Road and GYG. \nCimarron 615 came to be after Young’s death\, when Blue Elan Records chief Kirk Pasich organized a tribute concert and album and brought Sundrud\, Webb and Lonow together in Los Angeles as part of a house band for several projects – and heard the potential for more. She has released eight critically acclaimed CDs\, two of which were awarded Best Pop Album of the year by the Association for Independent Music. National Public Radio described her 2012 album Reunion as “a master class in making the personal universal\,” and her most recent album Everyday Street has been dubbed“ spare and luminous” and “remarkable.” \nLucy was part of folk supergroup Cry Cry Cry with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell (which The New Yorker dubbed “a collection of lovely harmonizing and pure emotion”). Their album was an astonishing success in stores and on radio resulting in a national tour of sold-out concerts\, as well as a national sold-out reunion tour in 2018. \nHer recording of Roxy Music’s “More than This” has over 12 million streams on Spotify\, and she has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered\, Weekend Edition\, and Morning Edition as well as BBC Radio 2 and 4\, and CBS Sunday Morning\, and has sung harmony on albums by\nSuzanne Vega\, Bryan Ferry\, Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin. Does diminished eyesight correlate with lesser insight? Does your songwriting change when your perception of the world around you changes? These questions\, and Erelli’s hunt for creative agency\, are at the heart of his new album Lay Your Darkness Down (due Feb 3 on Soundly Music).  \nMark Erelli reminds us to push forward through the fog; because we can’t see a path ahead\, doesn’t mean we won’t get to the destination we’re in search of. His dad started him on the mandolin at age seven and required him to practice ten minutes a day. But after six months of practicing this minimal amount\, something clicked\, and almost overnight he started putting in several hours of intense practice daily. And this hasn’t really changed in the last 20 years. Now in 2023\, the mandolinist’s main focus is The Jacob Jolliff Band\, which is regarded as  one of the most cutting-edge progressive bluegrass groups on the scene today. This ensemble is a group of virtuosic pickers that play Jacob’s original instrumentals\, as well as showcase his singing. They tour nationally in the US and have also travelled to Scotland and Australia to perform. The group has released two albums\, “Instrumentals Vol. 1” in 2018 and “The Jacob Jolliff Band” in 2022.

Restless and inventive\, his seventeen records span rock and roll\, folk\, Jazz\, spoken word\, and Americana. Peter Mulvey has been a songwriter\, road-dog\, raconteur and almost-poet since before he can remember. Raised working-class Catholic on the Northwest side of Milwaukee\, he took a semester in Ireland\, and immediately began cutting classes to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin and hitchhike through the country\, finding whatever gigs he could. Back stateside\, he spent a couple years gigging in the Midwest before lighting out for Boston\, where he returned to busking (this time in the subway) and coffeehouses. Small shows led to larger shows\, which eventually led to regional and then national and international touring. The wheels have not stopped since. \nNineteen records\, an illustrated book\, thousands of live performances\, a TEDx talk\, a decades-long association with the National Youth Science Camp\, opening for luminaries such as Ani DiFranco\, Emmylou Harris\, and Chuck Prophet\, appearances on NPR\, an annual autumn tour by bicycle\, emceeing festivals\, hosting his own boutique festival (the Lamplighter Sessions\, in Boston and Wisconsin)… Mulvey never stops. He has built his life’s work on collaboration and an instinct for the eclectic and the vital. He folds everything he encounters into his work: poetry\, social justice\, scientific literacy\, & a deeply abiding humanism are all on plain display in his art. \n \n
